A Weekend Fit For a Drive...Just Ask Abe
An annual opportunity to celebrate the beginning of fall, simply by getting in the car, officially begins Saturday. And we can not tell a lie; this year's event is unique.

The first of two weekends of the annual Knox County Scenic Drive is Saturday and Sunday, featuring all kinds of food and activities at nearly every Knox County Community along US 150 and some other spots.

Jerri Wood of the Galesburg-Area Convention and Visitors Bureau tells WGIL Galesburg is only a part of the Scenic Drive during this weekend, and this year, it will be big. "(Galesburg has the) Scarecrow Festival, and we're very excited about that," Wood said. "We have more vendors than we've ever had. We have a hot air balloon coming in. We have the (Lincoln-Douglas Debate) Reunion Tour going on...at (Knox College's) Old Main. We have Abe and Mary Lincoln coming Saturday morning. Sunday is a car cruise. You can still get scarecrows in, so please get them in."

Abe and Mary Todd Lincoln will be at a number of places along the Knox County Scenic Drive Saturday, including the special "Lincoln-Douglas Debate Reunion Tour" performance at Knox College starting at 2pm.

Other stops along the Knox County Scenic Drive include the Knox County Fairgrounds, downtown Knoxville, Maquon, Walnut Grove Farm, and more.
