Police Urge Residents to Avoid Bank Phone Scam
Galesburg Police are warning the public about a certain type of scam involving a local bank that seems to be rearing its ugly head.

Police officials say several residents have reported receiving phone calls from at least three different points in the country claiming to be from their bank, telling them that their bank or ATM card has been deactivated, and that they need to re-activate the card over the phone.

Officials say it's only affecting one bank in town but are declining to say which one it is. But the police say there isn't a bank in town that would make such a phone call.

Police say if you do get such a phone call, do not give out any information over the phone, and call your bank to see if it's them or not.

The police say you can also contact them.
