Former Knox County State's Attorney Cleared of Wrongdoing
The criminal investigation into former Knox County State's Attorney Paul Mangieri is officially over.

A letter filed Wednesday morning in Fulton County Circuit court written by Special Prosecutor William Poncin indicates that there is insufficient evidence to prosecute Mangieri or anyone else named in a court order calling for an investigation.

Current State's Attorney John Pepmeyer leveled allegations of financial mismanagement against Mangeri and former Sheriff Jim Thompson covering a period of time from December of 2003 to November of 2006. He made those allegations after allegations of sexual harassment were leveled against him, and after essentially firing most of the assistant State's Attorneys in the office.

Mangieri has since been appointed as a judge in the 9th Judicial Circuit, and is one of two people seeking a full term in the November election as a judge.
