| Three More Arrests Made in Beason Murders |
Police investigating the beating deaths of five people in Beason have made three more arrests. 22-year-old Jason Harris, 24-year-old Jennifer Earnest, and 43-year-old Sara Duncan are all accused of obstructing justice. Logan County Sheriff Steve Nichols, announcing the arrests Wednesday evening in Lincoln, would not elaborate on the allegations other than to reinforce that they are not charged with the actual murders.
The bodies of Raymond "Rick" Gee, Ruth Gee, and three of the family's children were found in their home in Beason Sept. 21. The cause of death was reported as blunt force trauma, though Nichols has not shared other details of their deaths, including what the murder weapon was and whether it has been located.
The sheriff says Harris and Earnest are boyfriend and girlfriend and live together in Armington. He says Duncan, of Sarasota, Fla., is Earnest's mother. He says Jason Harris is the brother of the man accused of the killings, Christopher Harris, arrested Oct. 1. Christopher Harris is the ex-husband of one of Rick Gee's older children, Nicole Gee.
Asked about the possibility of further arrests, Nichols said, "Other charges may be pending." What's more, Nichols denied a report that said security had been increased at the hospital where the survivor of the attacks, 3-year-old Tabitha Gee, is recovering. Nichols says the little girl is in fair condition.
