R.V. Fire Injures One
A Galesburg man is being treated for some minor injuries after his recreational vehicle caught fire in his home's driveway Monday morning.

Galesburg Fire Department Battalion Chief Chip Timmons says crews were first dispatched around ten this morning to 488 Yates Street, but later called for another crew when it was discovered the R-V was parked close to the home.

Timmons says the owner of the RV, 86-year old David Klapp, tried to start it this Monday morning when it backfired, causing flames to come from the engine compartment into the passenger side of the RV.

Timmons says he thinks the fire burned through a supply line to the built in furnace which was fueled by propane.

He says Klapp's pant leg caught fire when he got out of the vehicle, but was able to stop, drop, and roll the fire out.

Timmons says Klapp has non-life threatening injuries, but was taken by ambulance to a local hospital.

He says firefighters got the other propane tanks shut off while fighting the blaze. The RV is considered a total loss.
