State Marks National Teen Driver Safety Week
CHICAGO (AP) -- Secretary of State Jesse White will mark national Teen Driver Safety Week by presenting an award to a Chicago area high school.

White will be at Maine South High School in Park Ridge on Tuesday to give the school an award for its driver education program.

In Illinois, teens have to follow tougher laws if they want to drive.

Last year, state law required that schools give teens more practice driving with six hours of road training.

The state also has moved up the curfew for teen drivers.

It's also harder for teens to joy ride with friends. That's because the law limits how many unrelated teens they can have in the car with them during their first year of driving.
