ISAC Will Continue Processing MAP Grants
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- The Illinois Student Assistance Commission is gearing up to continue Monetary Award Program grants to college students now that funding has been restored for the second semester.

ISAC chairman Donald McNeil issued a statement Wednesday thanking the 2,500 students and activists who rallied at the Capitol last week.

Lawmakers and Gov. Pat Quinn agreed to put another $205 million into the program to carry it through the school year, although they haven't yet decided how to come up with the money.

ISAC will continue processing through Jan. 10, 2010, fall requests for college students receiving MAP grants. College financial aid advisers will be notified when ISAC is ready to process spring requests.
