The Lighter Side of a GOP Gubernatorial Debate
A political debate usually brings serious questions and serious answers, with each participant vying for the voters' support.

But during a recent debate featuring five Republican candidates for governor, there were some not-so-serious questions that made the candidates and the audience chuckle from time to time.

Can you guess who enjoys walking and playing cards in his spare time? That would be State Sen. Bill Brady (R-Bloomington).

Businessman Adam Andrzejewski enjoys running and lifting weights, State Sen. Kirk Dillard (R-Hinsdale) enjoys spending time with his children, while political pundit Dan Proft enjoys shooting hoops. And don't forget DuPage County Board President Bob Schillerstrom: He enjoys time with his family.

Another non-political question posed by the moderator at Chicago's Union League Club: Name someone whose example you wish to emulate in your service.

Andrzejewski, sticking to his Polish roots, named Casimir Pulaski. For Brady and Schillerstrom, Ronald Regan is their man, while Dillard says he looks up to Honest Abe Lincoln. Proft choose Pope John Paul II.
