Police Search for Shooting Suspect
UPDATED 9:00am 10/25/09 Galesburg Police are searching for clues in a shooting that injured a local man.

Galesburg Police reports indicate officers were called to the area of Cooke School around 7:30 Saturday night in reference to a reported gunshot victim.

Officers searched the area before others flagged down the police and directed them to 581 West Second Street.

Upon arrival at the residence, officers witnessed 20-year old Adam Pacheco sitting on a chair on the front porch with what police say was a large amount of blood on the front of his shirt and legs.

Police say at the time, Pacheco could not provide details into a suspect because he wasn't very responsive but three others individuals at the location said they didn't know of a suspect but allegedly told police a red two door vehicle, possibly a Ford Mustang or Chevy Monte Carlo had departed as they arrived.

Officers began to search the scene as the victim was taken to OSF St. Mary Medical Center for treatment. He had been reported in stable condition late Saturday night.

Police say near the rear of the residence, behind some brush, they located a "happy birthday" gift bag which allegedly contained several plastic containers of cannabis. The location of the bag, according to police, suggests the suspect may have fled north or east through backyards.

No arrests have been made or charges filed as police continue their investigation.
