FIRST ON WGIL: Man Found Dead in Fulton County Jail Cell
FIRST REPORTED 11:00am 10/27/9 A local man being held in Fulton County's jail as a federal inmate has been found dead.

The Fulton County Sheriffs Department says 39-year old Casey Kidwell, whom court records indicate is a resident of Gilson, but whom the Sheriffs Department says is from Monmouth, was found dead in his cell Monday evening.

Sheriffs Department officials say jail officers made a routine check around 9:30 Monday night when they say they found Kidwell hanging by his neck from a wall vent inside his cell, the victim of an apparent suicide.

Officials say, though, attempts were made to revive Kidwell with no success, and Coroner Steve Hines pronounced him dead.

Kidwell was arrested in late-January on cocaine possession charges after he allegedly tried to purchase $25,000 worth of the substance from an informant in the parking lot of an East Peoria hotel.

He pleaded guilty in June and was to be sentenced October 1st, but documents filed in federal court in Peoria on October 19th indicate Kidwell was found in violation of his plea agreement after he allegedly failed to disclose cash and cocaine in his possession to investigators from the U-S Drug Enforcement Agency.

It's not clear if an autopsy will be conducted.
