Firefighters Battle Bureau County Chemical Fire
PRINCETON, Ill. (AP) -- Firefighters are fighting a chemical fire outside of Princeton, and fire officials are asking residents to take precautions by staying indoors and closing up their homes.

Princeton Fire Department Lt. Joe Welte says his department was called about 6 a.m. Saturday to the fire at a facility at the intersection of Highways 6 and 40. Welte says multiple departments have responded to the fire in a rural area west of Princeton.

Welte says residents in the area should stay inside, close all their doors and windows and turn off heating and cooling systems. He says a hazardous materials team is at the fire but he has no information on specific threats.

Welte says no injuries from the fire have been reported.
