Fire in Chemcial Plant Near Princeton Update
PRINCETON, Ill. (AP) -- Smoke has continued to billow from a chemical fire in central Illinois that's closed area roads and forced some residents miles away to keep their windows shut.

Bureau County Board Supervisor Joe Bertetto says he could see smoke rising from the Euclid Chemical plant. And he's about 10 miles east of the plant, in Princeton.

Bertetto says there were no immediate reports of injuries from the blaze that started early Saturday.

He says the plant's surrounded by fields. So he says the fire didn't seem to pose an imminent threat to area residents.

Bertetto says Route 40 south of Interstate 80 is among the stretches of road that have been closed.

Princeton Fire Department Lt. Joe Welte says residents should take precautions by staying indoors and closing up their homes.
