Henderson County Clinic Gets Federal Grant
Money being made available under the recent federal health care reforms is going to benefit one area health clinic.

The White House is releasing $727 million in grants to health care centers across the country under the Affordable Care Act. $46 million of that is coming to Illinois clinics, and the Henderson County Rural Health Center is getting just over a million dollars.

The clinic is better known as Eagle View Community Health System, clinic director Melinda Whiteman tells WGIL the Oquawka clinic's dental services will get their own building with the money.

"We actually are above volume capacity on the amount of patients we can serve here. We have five dental chairs and we're running almost two full-time dentists in there and staff associated with them and they're just falling all over each other plus handicap accessibility is not really what it should be."

Whiteman says Eagle View's staff have been planning for this addition for a year now, when they first applied for the grant.

Construction could begin as soon as 90 to 120 days if not sooner, and could be complete a year from now.
