77 Apply to Become Galesburg City Manager
The firm responsible for recommending the next City Manager to the Galesburg City Council is now in the next phase of the hiring process.

That's according to a statement issued Monday afternoon by the city. City officials say last Friday was the deadline for those looking to officially replace Dane Bragg as Galesburg City Manager to submit their resumes. The city says 77 people did, and that Voorhees and Associates is reviewing those resumes.

The next step, officials say, is for the firm to put together a report on those resumes by the end of the month that must be submitted to the City Council. Aldermen and Voorhees will then review candidates in early November, with interviews scheduled for later next month.

In the statement, Mayor Sal Garza is quoted as saying he's pleased with the search process, and he's confident a new city manager will be in place early next year.

Former Assistant Peoria City Manager Craig Whitehead is serving as Galesburg's interim city manager, and he's said to be interested in the permanent job.
