Henderson County Sheriff's Race Heating Up
Candidates for the Henderson County Sheriff have their own ideas about how to solve the county's drug problem.

Republican candidate Todd Miller told Burlington Station KBUR the county needs to again join the West Central Illinois Drug Task Force.

"We have a serious drug issue, as a lot of communities do. Meth is running rampant The sheriff's office, I believe, is doing little to remedy that. They were in the task force, I believe five or six years ago - chose to withdraw from that, the drug task force."

Henderson County left the task force in 2005.

Steve Henshaw is running on the independent ticket. He agrees but says working relationships are important as well.

"I wanna get back in the task force because we do have a drug problem and it needs to be addressed. And another thing is bring back a working relationship with other departments like state police, the city police there in the county, I believe we need to have a good working relationship with Des Moines County, Warren County, and other counties."

A third, candidate Democrat Steve Haynes, declined an interview with KBUR.
