Simon Visists Illinois' 102 Counties
(IRN)-The map had only two counties not shaded in. But Democratic lieutenant governor candidate Sheila Simon colored them in Wednesday afternoon at Democratic headquarters in Springfield, a symbol of completing her quest to visit all of Illinois' 102 counties.

Simon started this quest in March, when she was named the running mate for Governor Pat Quinn. She says democracy works in every part of the state, and she is pleased to hear so many voters tell her that they're willing to accept Quinn's income tax hike, which would raise taxpayer's amount by 1 percentage point, as long as the state is accountable for how that money is spent on schools. She says not all of the visits were set up by the Democratic county chairmen, saying some were spontaneous stops at restaurants and included Republicans.

The last two counties that Simon visited were Hancock and Henderson in Western Illinois.
