Prosecutor to Seek Death Penalty in Peoria Fire
PEORIA, Ill. (AP) -- Prosecutors in central Illinois plan to seek the death penalty for a man charged with setting a Peoria house fire that killed four people in April.

Peoria County State's Attorney Kevin Lyons on Thursday filed his intent to seek that sentence if 33-year-old Aunterrio Barney is convicted. The (Peoria) Journal Star reports that Lyons' motion describes Barney's actions as "cold, calculated and premeditated."

Barney has pleaded not guilty to murder and arson charges.

The house fire killed 19-year-old Darresse Roddy and two sisters, 24-year-old Youlandice Simmons and 22-year-old Brianna Simmons, who was pregnant. Youlandice Simmons' 2-year-old son, Darryl Miller Jr., died the next day.
