Entries Needed for Veterans Day Parade
It's not too early to start thinking about an annual parade next month in Galesburg.

That's according to organizers of the annual Veterans Day Parade, who now are actively soliciting participation in the parade Sunday, November 7th at 2 pm -- running the usual parade route along Main Street in downtown Galesburg.

Co-organizer Linda Howarter tells WGIL she just wants the parade to do better than it did last year.

"[Many participants] know about the parade each year, so they just say 'put us down' or give us a call," Howarter said. "We've started making phone calls...we have a lot that already [have signed up]. We had 64 [parade entries] last year, so I always want to do one more than the year before. So we're looking for 65."

Howarter or co-organizer Mike Allen can be contacted for those who want to be in the parade. Allen's number is 221-2892.

Howarter says grand marshalls for this year's parade will be the local World War II veterans who have taken part in the Honor Flight program.
