Hare Says Schilling Flipping on Tax Pledge
17th District Congressman Phil Hare says his opponent in November is flip-flopping on tax issues.

Hare accuses Republican Bobby Schilling from Rock Island of changing his tunes when is comes to taxing Americans.

"Mr. Schilling is fond of pointing out that he signed a pledge to not raise taxes, but asked by the Chicago Tribune what changes in revenue and benefits he supports to keep Medicare and Social Security solvent Schilling said quote, 'I believe there will need to be an increase in Medicare and Social Security withholding taxes,' end quote."

Hare tells WGIL Schilling has since attempted to retract that statement, but says the damage is done.

The Schilling campaign has distributed Emails in response to Hare's campaign stop in Galesburg and other cities Friday.

The Email accuses Hare of voting to adjourn in Washington D.C so he could hit the campaign trails and notes Hare has not committed to signing pledge not to raise taxes.
