One Arrest Made in Home Invasion
A Galesburg man is in custody after allegedly robbing a home Thursday night.

Just before 11 p.m. a man living in the 1500 block of McKnight Street in Galesburg answered to a knock at the door and recognized a man he knew as "Peppe."

According to the girlfriend of the man, Peppe would come to the home often to purchase cigarettes. The man lead him into the home, but was unaware two other males followed as well.

A black male in a red hooded sweatshirt had what appeared to be a handgun wrapped in a white T-shirt. He pointed it at the victim and ordered him into the living room. Once there, the man was forced on the ground and his hands were duct taped behind his back.

A black male in a black hooded sweatshirt also bound the hands of the man's girlfriend as she was sitting on the couch and put a blanket over her head.

According to police reports, the men took a cell phone, some money, and cigarettes.

The man said they also riffled through the kitchen and pantry as if looking for something specific. The girlfriend said she couldn't understand what they thought she might have something of values but thought they could be looking for a large sum of money.

Her son apparently had passed away and few weeks prior and she believes the burglars may have been looking for money from the memorial.

Officers later found "Peppe" or 23 year old Travan Ward at his girlfriend's home.
He was arrested for armed robbery with a firearm, burglary, armed home invasion with a firearm, and unlawful restraint against a peace officer.

An investigation continues.
