Makings of Meth Lab Found in Galesburg Hotel
Early Friday morning police responded suspicious activity at a local hotel.

Officer spoke with the front desk clerk at Country Inn and Suites at 2284 Promenade Court in Galesburg.

The clerk told officers two customers had been continually exiting and entering the building through a door on the southern side of the building and carrying things under their clothes.

The clerk had observed this activity for sometime on a video monitoring screen.
Officers went to the room and spoke with 27 year old Richard Pinkowski of Galesburg.

According to police reports, when Pinkowski opened the door and saw officers, he immediately stepped out and closed the door behind him.

Officer began questioning the man and after a search of his person found small clear baggies in his pocket, often used for selling drugs.

Officers placed Pinknowski in handcuffs and searched the room, in which 22 year old Melissa Oeth was still in.

Police found materials for making methamphetamine in plain sight in the room.
Both Oeth and Pinkowskit were arrested and taken to the Knox County Jail.

Further searching by police officers lead to additional meth making materials in a Ford Escort in the parking lot and in a nearby soybean field.
