Brady's Mom Defends Son
(IRN) -- The mother of the Republican candidate for governor is defending her son over an ad by Gov. Pat Quinn. "This commercial is probably one of the sickest things I've ever seen," Nancy Brady, mother of State Sen. Bill Brady (R-Bloomington), told WJBC-AM radio in Bloomington.

The Quinn TV ad criticizes Brady for introducing legislation that would allow shelter animals to be mass-euthanized. It features testimonials from avowed Republicans saying they won’t vote for Brady because of his sponsorship of the bill.

Brady's mother says characterizing her son as an animal killer is inaccurate. "They love their dog Lady...more than anything, and to have people thinking he wants to euthanize all these dogs, it's absolutely sick," she said.

Brady says a veterinarians' group requested the bill. He removed himself as a sponsor days after introducing the bill, which has not moved.
