Schmidt is on the Job at GREDA
The former president of Carl Sandburg College is on the job at GREDA.

Tom Schmidt officially became the firm's president Friday, replacing Greg Mangieri, who shifts to Vice President of Economic Development. Schmidt, up to Thursday, was Chairman of GREDA's board.

Schmidt tells WGIL he sees GREDA as having to be sort of like the television show "Saturday Night Live," which at its core is the same show, while always having to change a little.

"That show has had to reinvent itself consistently over that span of time. If you look at key players, they've come and they've gone and yet the consistency is there, that the producers and leaders of the show have been in tune with the needs of their market and they've modified their personnel to deliver services on a timely basis."

Schmidt says that means having to deal with a growing global economy, and not hoping for a comeback of the way things used to be. He says GREDA has to adapt, and believes it's in a good position to do that.

Schmidt will oversee day to day operations of GREDA, which he says will help Mangieri focus more on economic development issues.
