| Hare Repeats Claims Against Opponent |
Congressman Phil Hare used a rally of local party faithful over the weekend to repeat some claims he's made before about his primary opponent in the November election.
The Rock Island Democrat was a principal speaker at the rally hosted by Knox County Democrats at the Galesburg Labor Temple.
Hare told supporters Republican Bobby Schilling is "wrong on trade" and supports tax breaks for companies who end up moving jobs overseas.
But Hare also accused Schilling of not knowing at least one industry that is in the 17th District.
"He ought to get a map and find Sterling, Illinois on the district, because in Sterling, Illinois is a steel plant that has 350 steel workers and not only the union but the management are close to that trade deal because that factory that he doesn't know exists, makes springs for automobiles and SUVs and they made it very clear to me that if that deal goes through that steel plant could be gone."
Hare also continued to claim that Schilling isn't for any project planned for anywhere in the district, which would include the three rail crossing grade separations. Meantime, the Schilling campaign said this morning that it outraised Hare in the third quarter, claiming most of Hare's money came from special interest political action committees.
