Find Out Who is Donating to Politicians Online
(IRN)-An updated website is aimed at making it easier for you to find out who's donating lots of campaign cash to whom. The Illinois Campaign for Political Reform has updated its site (www.ILcampaign.org) so that it's more user friendly. Associate director David Morrison says the improvements make the site easier to navigate than the Illinois State Board of Elections website.

Morrison says he's struck by the large, last minute donations coming into the political campaigns of Illinois candidates. He cites the group Stand for Children, which is new to the Illinois elections scene, and its donations of more than $600,000 to a few candidates. He says because about a third of the group's money comes from the national non-profit group, it's hard to know where the dollars are really coming from.

He says other improvements to the information are common sense. He says the State Board of Elections website includes 40 different ways of listing AT&T as a contributor. He says his group's site clears it up and makes it easier to track. It features a Top-15 list of contributors to candidates for statewide or legislative offices.
