ISU Convinces IL District to Ditch Cardinal Logo
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- A central Illinois high school has agreed to phase out its cardinal logo after Illinois State University complained that it looked too much like ISU's Reggie Redbird mascot.

ISU licensing chief Jerry Abner told The Pantagraph newspaper in Bloomington that Pleasant Plains High School can use the logo on its uniforms until those are replaced. But the school says the Sangamon County school district needs to start scrubbing its Web site and printed materials of the logo right away.

Pleasant Plains Superintendent Maureen Talbert told WUIS radio in Springfield that the school district will comply.

Abner said Illinois State sometimes has to send out such complaints to protect its trademark.
