Tourism Director Announces Retirement
After ten years, the director the Galesburg Area Convention and Visitor's Bureau says it's time to try something new.

"My husband passed away a little over a year ago, and a lot of changes have taken place in my life and I just feel a need to move on and I think it is a good time."

Diane Bruening announced her retirement Friday and tells WGIL she plans to move to Alabama to be with family there.

Bruening's retirement was brought to the Galesburg Area Chamber of Commerce at Monday meeting. Chamber President Bob Maus says a plan is already in place to find a new director.

"Going forward, over the next several days we'll be developing a job description and advertising the position locally and we'll look forward to seeing as many nominees as possible for that position and ultimately interviewing the best candidates and selecting someone to begin in that position we hope by the first part of December."

Bruening will officially retire January first.
