Cohen Misses Deadline in Governor's Race
SPRINGFIELD, Ill. (AP) -- Independent candidate for governor Scott Lee Cohen has missed a deadline set by Illinois' campaign laws.

All candidates running in the Nov. 2 election are required to turn in reports showing how much money they raised between July 1 and Oct. 3.

That report was due Monday. But Cohen spokesman John Davis says Cohen's reports will be filed by Friday.

Davis tells The (Bloomington) Pantagraph that the report is late because of an overworked campaign aide. And Davis says the campaign isn't ``sweating the small
fine.''

The Illinois State Board of Elections typically fines first-time offenders $500 if they file within 10 days of the deadline.<
