Knox County Health Department Now a Sharps Drop-off
People who are required to used needles often don't know where or how to properly dispose them after use.

Now according to Knox County Health Department Director Heidi Britton, the health department will be able to take care of them.

"We already to the medication drop-off for the community, and we picked up that CFL light bulb earlier last year, and now we're a sharps drop-off, which is pretty exciting because there's a lot of community members that have no idea where to put all their needles at and now they can bring them to us."

Britton adds they cannot yet take the sharps, but a drop-off kiosk will be coming to the clinic soon.

The program is at no cost to the department, Britton says it was actually an initiative from Waste Management to keep garbage free of used needles.
