Knoxville Planning for a Positive Election Outcome
Knoxville School District 202 is at a kind of stand still until November.

At the school board meeting this week, board members discussed the options for building a new track at the school.

Superintendent Stephen Wilder tells WGIL preliminary plans are in the works, but nothing is certain.

"In the mean time, however, the board has been working with a member of the community who has volunteered just to do some preliminary planning on a volunteer basis. Recently we got some preliminary plans in as to what the track might look like but it was clear from the member of the community who volunteered as well as among the board of education that, regardless of the plans that have been drawn up, we're really on a wait and see mode right now."

That "wait and see" mode will remain until election day November second, when Knox County residents will vote on a referendum to allow a one percent sales tax that will be used by school districts for capitol construction projects.

The board also took action on hiring a number of coaches, like a girls cheering coach, which has been vacant this season, a couple wrestling coaches, and freshman boys basketball coach.
