Crop Harvest Progresses Despite Rain
(IRN)-Some rain and warmer temperatures last week helped all the crops, whether they're just coming up or coming out.

Rainfall averaged a half inch statewide, a little below average. The rain was more substantial in the central and northern parts of the state, compared to the southern part of the state. The temperatures were about 2½ degrees higher than usual. That helped farmers spend nearly every day in the field.

The weekly USDA crop progress report puts the corn harvest at 97 percent complete, up from 93 percent last week, and compared to 14 percent last year at this time, and the 63 percent five year average. The bean harvest is also at 97 percent, up from 90 percent last week, last year's 30 percent, and the 75 percent five year average. Winter wheat is 55 percent emerged, up from last week's 27 percent, last year's 10 percent, and the 43 percent five year average.
