Cattle Dead After Route 34 Crash
No humans were injured, but several dozen head of cattle are dead following a crash on Route 34 late Monday night.

The Henry County Sheriffs Department says deputies were initially called to Route 34, about three miles east of Galva, around 10:30 p.m. Monday for a report of an overturned semi.

The say they semi was carrying a trailer full of livestock. The crash caused 40 head of cattle to be lost, while another 89 head of cattle were transported to the Rock Island Sale Barn.

The driver of the semi, 32 year old Rick Nelson, was uninjured.

The accident remains under investigation, and sheriffs deputies say Galva Fire and Ambulance, the Kewanee Veterinary Clinic, an animal rendering service, and others responded to the crash.
