Plummer Says Increase Tax Base, Not Taxes
Lieutenant Governor candidate Republican Jason Plummer was Galesburg Thursday to speak with local media.

Plummer tells WGIL he is feeling confident going into election day because he and running mate Bill Brady have the best plan to get Illinois's economy on the right track, unlike their opponents Governor Pat Quinn and Shelia Simon.

"It's not about increasing taxes, it's about increasing the tax base. You increase the tax base by growing the economy, by growing the number of businesses and the number of jobs in Illinois, that's how you drive more revenue to Springfield. A tax increase might have a short term bump in tax revenue but over the course of five years and ten years it's going to drive more people out of the state which is going to make the budget deficit deeper."

Plummer says he and Brady's plan to make Illinois attractive to new business, coupled with spending cuts, will create a balanced budget and work down the state's multi-billion dollar budget hole.
