Harves Continues to Move Quickly
(IRN) -- Illinois farmers are making harvest progress that hasn't been seen in at least a decade.

At this time last year, 5 percent of Illinois corn was harvested. In 2008, it was 8 percent. This year, it's 74 percent, the highest in over a decade -- up from 54 percent last week, according to the weekly USDA crop progress and weather report.

Soybeans are 50 percent harvested, up from 22 percent last week. Only twice in a decade has this much soybean harvest progress come this early.

The soybean harvest has occasionally met or exceeded this year's harvest progress. Schwab says the favorable harvest conditions have been statewide, and the corn harvest could be completed in a week or two.
