Police Say Electrocuted Man Was Stealing Copper
WASHINGTON PARK, Ill. (AP) -- Police in the St. Clair County town of Washington Park say a man who was electrocuted there over the weekend appeared to have been stealing copper wire at the time of his death.

Officers say they found the body of the 38-year-old man early Saturday. He had wire cutters and lengths of copper wire with him, and appeared to be stealing copper when he hit the live wire.

The victim's name was not released, but police took one person into custody for questioning in connection with the incident.

Ameren says the electrocution caused 530 customers to lose power briefly in Washington Park, Fairmont City, East St. Louis and Venice.
