Illinois Sending Corn to China
(IRN)-China will likely need more corn, and that's a welcome demand to the Illinois Corn Growers Association. The U.S. Grains Council, having concluded its annual China Corn Tour, is estimating that China will import 2 million tons of corn next year.

Phil Thornton, value enhanced project director at the Illinois Corn Growers Association, says some of that corn will come from Illinois. He says because of Illinois' large crop, and the infrastructure of rail and river transport, China will find it attractive, and affordable, to buy some of its corn from Illinois.

The council expects China's current corn crop to be bigger than last year, but not large enough to feed the livestock.
