State High Court Says Drew Peterson Stays in Jail
CHICAGO (AP) -- A Chicago newspaper reports that the Illinois Supreme Court has rejected another request to release former Bolingbrook police sergeant Drew Peterson while his murder case is on appeal.

The Chicago Tribune reported Thursday evening that the state high court issued the ruling earlier this week.

Defense lawyer Joseph Lopez would not comment on the ruling because it was issued under seal, but he confirmed that he plans to petition a federal court for Peterson's release next week.

Peterson is charged with killing his third wife, Kathleen Savio, who was found dead in a dry bathtub in March 2004. He is also a suspect in the 2007 disappearance of his fourth wife Stacy Peterson. He has denied wrongdoing in both cases.
