Lake Storey Faithful Lend A Hand
The Galesburg Park Division keeps up on Lake Storey year round; but with the lake drawn back, Saturday presented an opportune time for volunteers to lend their own hand in cleaning up.

Galesburg natives Bill Greer and his wife Joyce grabbed a garbage picker, yard bag, and pair of gloves supplied by the park division Saturday morning.

Greer tells WGIL Lake Storey is a nice facility, but people abuse it.

"We come out and walk, I come out and fish, you see a lot of litter and you don't understand why," he said. "I've seen them just put a fast food container right by the barrel, why couldn't you put it in the barrel. But people don't do that, and we just like to help out a bit."

The couple passed on the hot cocoa and donuts to get strait to work. Bill guided his wife Joyce directly to his fishing spot, where he says he witnesses people ignore the trash bins and drop garbage right next to them.

He says Lake Storey is a great area and Saturday presented a perfect fall setting to help out in the community by picking up.
