| Knoxville Welcomes Home Wounded Soldier |
Corporal Steve Jennings stands behind his country; and even after after an RPG drove through his chest in Afganistan over the summer, his outlook hasn't changed a bit. He wants to become an army reservist once he recovers from over a dozen surgeries. Jennings asks that the American people only continue to stand behind their county as well. "Support the soldiers, send them whatever they can, because they need it," Jennings said. "They don't know half the job we do, at all, trust me. Finding a bomb, ain't easy, attacking an insurgent, ain't easy."
Jennings tells WGIL the thought of quitting never crossed his mind when he laid reaching for his primary weapon that June 10th day following the shot; not then, and not never.
"I'm gonna give back 110%, whatever my wounded battles need, I'm gonna give to them," he said. "Blood, marrow, bone, I don't care. Whatever they need, I'll give em'."
Jennings has been undergoing treatment at an army medical center in San Antonio. He says more surgeries are coming, but over the last month he has been able to do what he loves most, ride motorcycles. Only fitting then the Patriot Guard led the homecoming procession into the Knoxville American Legion Saturday night. Was Jennings aboard a bike? You Bet.
