Local Congressman Subject Of Threats
The one-term Congressman representing most of Knox County is apparently the subject of a threat.

A spokesperson for 17th District Congressman Bobby Schilling says Schilling has received a death threat via e-mail. The Congressional news publication "Roll Call" reports while the threat that came in Tuesday night singled out Schilling, it also made reference to wanting all Congressmen, FBI agents, CIA directors, and others.

The Colona Republican talked with a Quad Cities television station about the threat, saying he's laying low for now at the request of authorities. Despite the one interview Schilling has given, his spokesperson is denying interview requests, including one made by WGIL.

A statement indicates that Schilling is grateful for the law enforcement response to the threat.

One of the Democrats looking to unseat Schilling next year, Rock Island's Eric Reyes, has put out his own statement, calling the threats, quote, "shocking and deplorable," and hopes the investigation is successful.

Schilling unseated Phil Hare in last November's election.
