Sergeant First Class Back Home In Galesburg
He was supposed to be picking up a welcome home cake at the County Market in Monmouth; instead Seargent First Class Nathan Haynes was mobbed by Patriot Guard riders at McDonalds.

The 39-year old Haynes returned home from a second tour of duty October 2nd, this time from Iraq. He tells WGIL he's not one for much attention.

"I don't alike a lot of hoopla and things like that, I'm pretty humble when it comes to things like that," Haynes said. "It was pretty shocking, not embarrassed, but it was good to see a good homecoming like that. It felt good to get the support."

And THursday seeing the flags flying from their bikes, Haynes says it felt great to be escorted by Patriot Guard riders from Monmouth to his family's residence in Galesburg.

"Police escort in Galesburg, it felt really good to see the community like that. Of course I saw the flags on the street, it warmed up the heart pretty good that's for sure."

Seargent First Haynes has spent 21 years on active duty in the US Army, joining he says when he was 17 to get out and see the world.

He says he plans to serve another two years before retiring.
