Lawmaker Previews Veto Session
There are a lot of important items expected to come up during the fall veto session in Springfield starting Tuesday, but one local lawmaker isn't sure what exactly will happen.

74th District State Representative Don Moffitt says it's expected that gambling legislation and the vetoed "smart grid" electricity system legislation will come up.

But Moffitt tells WGIL whether a retooled gambling bill will pass or if the smart grid legislation veto will be overridden remains to be seen.

"Could be it could be brought up or if they don't feel they don't have any chance of enough votes to go the way the sponsor of the bill wants, then it might not be, so these are big issues," Moffit said.

Moffitt says he also expects pension reform to come up, as a House Committee has already done some work on that. But he'd also like to see pay be restored to Regional Superintendents of Education.

The Gilson Republican says they're not the unnecessary bureaucrats that Governor Pat Quinn has made them out to be.

Moffitt says there will be three days of session this week, then three more days later in November.
