Local Health Seminar Providing Professional Advancement
The West Central Illinois Health Care Continuing Education formed an alliance with Carl Sandburg College, Spoon River, and Canton's Graham hospital four years ago to offer a variety of health care programs.

C-S-C developed the first of seven in the fall of 2009, and has since made it available for credit each year.

Registered Nurse Sally Day says the continuing education seminar at C-S-C becomes increasingly important every year because of the advanced technologies and education available.

"The whole field of health care has changed so much through the years, it's like the difference of night and day almost," Day said. "What I had to know as a nurse 40 years ago, is nothing compared to what the new graduate people coming out, of whatever field they're in, have to know in caring for patients. The more you learn, the better you'll be."

Day will be the first speaker at 8-AM when the eight hour long continuing education day kicks off at C-S-C November 11.

The theme is "We've got the beat, Taking Cardiac Care to Heart," and will provide topics of interest to a variety of health care professionals, students, and alumni.

The session is particularly important to those professionals in a renewable period for licensure.
