Downtown Galesburg To Get Spooky Saturday
A popular way for local children to trick-or-treat prior to Halloween, while giving some exposure to downtown businesses, is back for a 10th year this weekend.

The Galesburg Business Association is once again hosting "Treat Street" Saturday morning for local youth.

G-B-A president Dennis Case tells WGIL from its first year, the premise was simple.

"First year we did it we threw this together, the Galesburg Business Association, in about three weeks, we just decided we wanted to do something for the kids downtown," he said.

"In the first year we had about 750 kids, which translates to about 2,000 people downtown. Very surprised, becasue who knows how many the first year you are going to have."

Case thinks 15-hundred to 2-thousand kids will take part this year, where parents are urged to guide their children to the 30 various downtown businesses, including the WGIL studios, that will have candy and gifts ready for them.

Treat Street will end Saturday at noon with a pizza party at Stone Hayes Center for Independent Living.
