Galesburg Woman Lives Out World Series Dream
A Galesburg woman and avid sports fan says she's watched a lot of sports in a lot of places, but never like the environment she was in for a certain national championship game played Friday night in a city not too far from here.

Carrie Bernett was one of a number of Galesburg residents who watched Game 7 of the World Series from Busch Stadium Friday night -- ultimately watching the come-from-behind Saint Louis Cardinals do it again to take the world title from Texas.

Bernett has been to every major league ballpark, and tells WGIL there's been nothing like Busch Friday night.

"The atmosphere was just incredible," Bernett said. "Just to be there, to see it, it was so nice."

But Bernett tells WGIL there was one thing she didn't anticipate: all the fans being in the area that didn't see the game at all.

"...that line up around the stadium, and in the streets, and in the sidewalks," Bernett said. "The thing that was incredible was trying to get a parking space, because there were so many fans down there even before the game started. You couldn't find a parking space hardly."

What's more, Bernett says she ended up paying double what she normally does for parking when she goes to Busch for a regular season game.

But, she says despite those experiences and dealing with large groups of people, she wouldn't trade any of it.
