Knoxville And GREDA Come To Terms
The Galesburg Regional Economic Development Association and the city of Knoxville will hold hands again, at least for a year.

Acting Mayor Bernadine Fleisher, whose Mayor Pro Tem tag was dropped during Monday night's meeting, knew it was time to make a decision on a contract.

"As many itmes as we've had this on the agenda I think we owe it to GREDA to make some kind of decision," she said.

And that decision to try again with GREDA after issues in the past was fueled by comments made during the Knoxville City Council's own Jim Eastwood, who serves on the city's Community and Economic Development Committee.

"I think it'd be worthwhile to do it for a year, we need something there, someone to help us," he said. "Really that's it, we heard what they said."

GREDA presented a restructured plan to the city two weeks ago, asking for alderman's cooperation in developing a list of specific economic outcomes the council would like for Knoxville.

The service agreement will begin November 1st and will cost Knoxville $2,000 dollars for the one year.
