Bond Lowered For Galesburg Woman Accused Of Child Endangerment
A 27-year old Galesburg woman accused of endangering the life of a child had her bond cut in half Monday morning by a Knox County Circuit Court judge.

Judge Scott Shiplett is now requiring Katrina Mason to post 10-percent of $3,000 dollars bond, or $300 dollars, after she was unable to post the original $600 dollars.

Mason is accused of leaving her children unsupervised at her East Brooks Street home over the summer which caught fire after she allegedly consumed alcohol and used cocaine among other drugs.

Neighbors found the children sleeping on a first level couch, while authorities rescued a nude-sleeping Mason from an upstairs bedroom.

Mason was hospitalized for a time with burn injuries in an Iowa City hospital following the fire.

Prosecutors allege other instances of child endangerment such as allowing her children to wander the streets.

Mason faces up to a year in prison if convicted on three counts of endangering the life of a child and 25-hundred dollars in fines. If she can post bail, Shiplett is allowing only supervised contact with her children.

An arraignment hearing is scheduled for November 18th at 9-AM.
