Regional Superintendent Not Going Overboard With No Pay
The Knox County Regional Superintendent is disappointed there wasn't a majority to restore pay checks to that position and assistants state wide last week.

But Bonnie Harris says it's a wait and see process now, and won't go overboard during her everyday office operation in the struggle for pay.

She tells WGIL her assistant, bookkeeper, receptionist, and herself will just continue to do work during a time of disappointment with the legislature.

"We do a lot of things, and if we were all to stop it would be really horrendus to students," Harris said. "I can't do that, as long as we're needed here for certification for the administrators, the tearchers, paraprofessionals, bus drivers; those things are so imortant, also healthy safety compliance."

"Those things are so important, I cannot just stop doing that, I really can't. True enough, I'm not getting paid, but I still cannot not do my job."

Harris says maybe the governor needs to become more aware of the actual job duties of a regional superintendent and their staff.

She says stopping work is not an option because she's an educator first and a politician last.
