Funeral Services Set For Fallen Marine
Funeral services and arrangements are set for the former Galesburg resident who was killed during a training exercise at Camp Pendleton several weeks ago.

A local funeral home says U-S Marine Major Jeffrey Bland will be cremated and laid to rest at Arlington National Cemetery after funeral services here Saturday.

The service is scheduled to be held Saturday at 1pm at First Presbyterian Church in Galesburg. Visitation is at the Church Friday from four to seven p-m.

Bland and another Illinois Marine were killed when their helicopter crashed during the September 19th training exercise at Camp Pendleton in California.

Bland had been a Marine for about 10 years at the time of the accident that killed him.

The Patriot Guard Riders say they will escort Bland to Galesburg from Midway Airport in Chicago Thursday. Bland's body is expected to arrive in Galesburg late Thursday night, by 10 p-m and then travel on to Watson Funeral Home.

Patriot Guard riders are asking residents if they can to show up at that late hour to help welcome Bland home one last time.
