Protests Planned For School Board Meeting
There may not be much planned for inside the Galesburg School Board meeting scheduled for Monday night, but there is a lot planned for outside the meeting.

The Galesburg Education Association will be holding a block party of sorts as they've described it before Monday's school board meeting. The union is looking for their teachers to essentially protest and picket outside Lincoln School on Harrison Street, as they continue to stress they're working without a new contract, and on a holiday Monday that they've had off in years past -- Columbus Day.

The most previous teachers contract expired in Mid-August days after school started, and despite the protests, both sides have met several times with a federal mediator.

A closed-door executive session is scheduled for Monday's night board meeting to discuss negotiations, but also student discipline and some other matters.

There are no major items scheduled for the open portion of the Galesburg School Board meeting agenda. The G-E-A will be picketing the meeting starting at six, but the meeting itself doesn't start until seven o'clock.
